چکیده

Due to low cross-sections for the production of heaviest nuclei the choice of the optimum reaction for specific nuclides is crucial for nuclear structure investigations based on α-γ-decay spectroscopy, which demand maximum numbers of observed events. Following previous decay studies of No [1] and Rf [2] an experiment to investigate Sg, the next heavier N=153 isotone, for which only rough decay properties were known so far [3], was performed at SHIP in March 2009. The most efficient way to produce neutron deficient isotopes of seaborgium is employing reactions of Cr with Pb isotopes. Excitation functions for Cr + Pb [2] and Pb [4] had been measured previously. The results are displayed in fig. 1.

The influence of shell effects on the fissility of neutron deficient uranium isotopes at N ≃ 126

Production cross sections and excitation functions of neutron deficient isotopes of U, Pa and Th have been measured in the reaction of 22 N e+ 208 P b. The comparison of experimental production cross sections of uranium isotopes with the neutron number 126 ≤ N ≤ 134 to the values calculated using statistical model of nuclear deexcitation has been carried out. There is shown, that none of the co...

Neutron Cross Sections for Some Threshold Reactions

Three neutron reactions leading to production of the rare gases Ar41 and Xe135 have been in vestigated. Single crystal samples of KF, CaF2 , and BaF2 were irradiated in the Berlin reactor and the target-free absolute activities of the rare gas isotopes measured by a /^-/-coincidence method. The calculated cross sections are K41 (n,p)Ar41: o = ( 2 ,73±0,41) mb; o0= (98,6± 14,8) mb; Ca44(n,a)Ar4...

The Status of Cross Section Measurements for Neutron-induced Reactions Needed for Cosmic Ray

Introduction: Cosmic ray interactions with lunar rocks and meteorites produce small amounts of radio-nuclides and stable isotopes. Advances in Accelerator Mass Spectrometry (AMS) allow production rates to be measured routinely in well-documented lunar rocks and meteorites. These measurements are analyzed using theoretical models to learn about the object itself and the history of the cosmic ray...

Production and study of new neutron rich heavy nuclei in multinucleon transfer reactions

30 years ago there had been a great deal of interest in the use of heavy ion multinucleon transfer reactions for the production of new neutron rich isotopes of heavy nuclei. Many experiments of such kind have been performed those time and very interesting information concerning collision dynamics have been derived. The cross sections for the production of above–target elements were found to dec...

Model calculations of a two-step reaction scheme for the production of the neutron-rich secondary beams

Actually, the design of more powerful next-generation secondary-beam facilities is being intensively discussed. The main challenge is the production of neutron-rich isotopes, because the neutron-drip line has only been reached for the lightest elements. The traditional way for producing neutronrich nuclei is fission of actinides. Another approach introduced recently, based on cold fragmentation...
